The history of Teluk Batik is said to have started with the arrival of the Batak people from Sumatra Island in Indonesia. The story began when, during the ancient times, the pirates and robbers made the Straits of Malacca their area to rob and to loot trade revenues and belongings of those who frequented the Straits of Malacca, including the Batak people. They made the current Teluk Batik a refuge from threats of the pirates and robbers. From then onwards, the Batak settlement was set up and was named Teluk Batak. As told by most of the natives nearby (Kampung Teluk Muruk and Kampung Padang Tembak) the name Teluk Batak remained until early 80s, after which, the name was changed to Teluk Batik, as Teluk Batak carries a negative connotation to it. The name Teluk Batik remains until now. Teluk Batik is approximately 60 square acres in size. The name Teluk Batak was officially changed to Teluk Batik on 26 April 1974.
