IMPLEMENTATION OF RECRUITMENT PROGRAM

GOALS
The Manjung Municipal Council as an active local authority ensures that residents and people living in their area are successful and practicing recycling activities.

WHAT IS RETURN?
The process of acquiring or making up some or all of the material from the rubbish for reuse or in a simple sense, the recycling process involves the collection, processing and reuse of materials once considered waste.
We want to share with Manjung people about the importance of recycling in our lives. Learning about recycling and practicing it is two different things. Therefore, we would like to urge all Manjung residents to practice recycling in everyday life because the future lies in our own hands

OBJECTIVES
Ensure recycling activities are always conducted and practiced by all parties within the Manjung Municipal Council area
Enhance awareness and understanding of all the important aspects of recycling practice
Enhancing the participation of all parties, especially residents in residential parks, industries, business premises, places of worship and government departments as well as NGOs.

DO YOU?
Every day we produce 15,000 tons of garbage but we are getting smaller space to cover them.
qUntuk produce 1 ton of paper requires 17 stems of palm trees not less than 10 years old.
The government spent an average of RM 130.00 for disposing of 1 ton of rubbish. (RM 130.00 X 15,000 tonnes = RM 1,950,000.00 per day).
Malaysia imports more than 25,000 tonnes with a cost of RM 4 million used papers from outside country every month.
By recycling aluminum cans, we will save enough energy to turn on the television for 3 hours.
By recycling one glass bottle, we can save 100 watts to light bulbs for 4 hours.
Recycled paper can reduce 4380 tonnes of waste per day. This amount corresponds to the 78,000 stems required to make a paper. Imagine how we can safeguard our forests by practicing recycling.

Programs & Activities

WHY RUBBER?

  • Recycle to preserve our living space. Currently there are about 3 garbage disposal sites in Manjung district. Once a landfill is filled with rubbish, a new site will be opened. Eventually, these sites will grow and spread inflammation of our living space.
  • Recycle for a healthier and cleaner environment.
  •   Garbage can affect health and safety. If left untreated, it will be the focus of disease carrier animals such as rats and crows. Through recycling, we can reduce the dumped waste and further control the disease from spreading.
  • Dumping waste in trash, lorry or garbage disposal is one of the sources of pollution in tropical climate.
  • Recycling practices can reduce environmental threats such as groundwater and air pollution.

Recycle to save on costs
In the long run, recycling is more economical than maintaining landfills or other systems. When recycling programs are efficient, the waste that needs to be removed will be reduced. This will take advantage of you as the charges for garbage disposal will be reduced.

Recycle to save our resources
Many do not realize that we are actually removing valuable resources. Did you know that Malaysia imports more than 25,000 tonnes of waste paper per month to produce paper products to meet local demand? We also import other materials for other manufacturing industries.

WHAT CAN REVENGE?
Paper

  • Newspapers, papers from offices, papers from printers, magazines and pamphlets are recyclable materials.
  • Collect those items wherever you are and try to separate the papers.
  • All papers are colored and colorless such as newspapers, magazines, books, sheets, catalogs, flyers, envelopes and cartons except tissue paper, carbon paper, oil / aluminum paper, plastic layered paper and dirty paper.

How to recycle

  • Separate old newspapers and magazines to other papers.
  • Open and level the box.
  • Bind neatly.
  • Put in a blue recycle barrel or send it to a collection center.

Plastic
All colored and non-colored plastics such as shopping bags, beverage bottles, mineral water bottles, food containers, detergent bottles and vitamin bottles except paint containers, toxic substances, laboratory equipment and styrofomers.

How to recycle

  • Remove excess liquid or merchandise from the container
  • Rinse and dry
  • Put into the orange recycle bin or send to the collection cent

HOW TO REDEEM?

Garbage Collection
•All you need to do is to separate recyclable and non-recyclable trash. The garbage collector will know what to do next.

Collection Center / Recycling Center
•The easiest way to implement this recycling is to simply deliver the collected items for recycling to the recycling center located throughout Manjung.
•There are 75 recycling bins locations in Manjung District.

RESTORE ON YOUR HOME?
• Recycling at home is very important. The amount of waste collected in a placement area is very large.
• The more we recycle, the more we save waste disposal and the Council can reduce waste management expenditure.

Separate trash
• The easiest thing to do is set aside trash. Place recyclable materials in one barrel and another waste in another barrel. The recyclable material will then be segregated by category. Be sure to clean it first before sending it to the collection center.

Use old materials
• Instead of removing your old stuff, it is best to try to use it again which can still be used. Bottle of mineral water can be used to store cooked water, or cut in half to make pots. Use the old curtains to make a cloth / cloth or donate it to a charity body.

reduce it
• Stop buying items packed with non-recyclables. Purchase in bulk not only reduces packing usage but also saves money
