Detail information

Pasir Panjang Beach is the longest beach in the Manjung District. This 6 km long beach is located 2 km away from Segari town and 5 km from the Jalan Lumut – Pantai Remis Junction. The fine sandy beaches, lush trees and peaceful area make Pasir Panjang Beach an ideal location for turtle nesting. An estimated 90% of turtles which make their way across strong waves here are Hawk's Bill and Green Turtle species. These turtles come onshore between March and July each year.

To preserve this marine treasure, the Perak State Government has taken proactive measures to build a Turtle Hatchery Centre in 1990 on an area measuring 0.1 acre. In 1992, an application for a 10- acre land was proposed to make it as an extension to the site. In 1994, a 5.5- acre land was approved on the reserve of the Fisheries Department of the Perak State Government.

Pasir Panjang Beach is also a strategic place for moon sighting to determine the beginning of Ramadhan, Eidul Fitri and Eidul Adha.
